Cancer takes a toll on both the individual and your social support system. Mindfulness practices such as Meditation, Wellness Qigong, and Tai Chi have profound, positive effects on mood and symptoms of stress for individuals with cancer. This class level is designed to decrease stress and anxiety, as well as encourage acceptance, relaxation, and peace. Meditation additionally improves immune function and overall quality of life for the individual. These classes are especially centering for pre- and post-op patients in addition to individuals recently diagnosed.

A link has been found between physical activity and reduced levels of chemotherapy-induced nausea and emesis. Yoga has also proven to increase rates of survival from many types of cancer. Classes like restorative yoga, Tai chi, and Qigong, which focus on integrating breath with movement, bring flexibility and strength to the body in a safe and comfortable way. These classes have been found particularly beneficial for in-treatment patients and pre- and post-op individuals.

Significant evidence supports the link between breath-focused activities and cancer survival. This class level is designed to improve peak oxygen consumption and reduce symptoms of fatigue while increasing strength through safe and fun classes like yoga and Nia dance. These classes are recommended for pre-op patients and those in recovery.

The Mindfulness Center offers a wide range of services that have been shown to reduce pain and improve quality of life for our clients. By fusing the latest research with traditional therapies, our services promote whole-being wellness for the individual.

Traditional Chinese Medicine and Energy Therapies

Modalities like Medical Qigong, Tai Chi, acupuncture, and Reiki have been proven to improve the overall quality of life and mood status and to reduce side effects of treatments for those with cancer. Our experienced practitioners administer these restorative therapies by sensing and balancing energy flow, circulation, respiration, and neural impulses.

Massage and Bodywork Therapies

Our fully licensed and highly trained therapists offer an extensive range of medical massage therapies, including oncology massage. Therapeutic massages are proven to help decrease pain, symptom distress, and anxiety while improving sleep quality in cancer patients. Bodywork Therapies like yoga and Cranial Sacral Therapy employ a gentle light touch approach to balance energy flow in the body and release tension and blockages.

Mindfulness Services

Researchers have found that psychological conditions such as a stress and depression can affect the outcomes of cancer care. In our one-on-one private meditation sessions, our clients learn tools and techniques to manage their present situation while developing a sense of empowerment over their own health and well-being. Experts in Hypnosis can also help individuals harness their capacity for well-being.

An abundance of research reviews the role of specific nutrients and foods in boosting the immune system, reducing inflammation, alleviating the symptoms of chemotherapy and radiation, and increasing rates of survival for Cancer patients. Our Program carefully reviews the role of nutrition from a scientific perspective and prepares you for discussion and working with your doctor for a program right for you and your care.
